The world champions are in danger of leaving the competition at the first hurdle, and with a semi-final place secured for the South Americans, this match could go either way, but what do the fans in the stadium think will happen.

Many fans flooded into the stadium were supporting Brazil, but a few were hoping that the Azzurri would come out top.

Goal.com spoke to an Italian fan named Franco, who made his way down to Tshwane from Johannesburg to support the Azzurri. “I predict that the team will use the pressure in a good way and score a 3-1 win over Brazil. Rossi, Iaquinta and Toni will score a goal each, and Kaka will get a consolation. It may be wishful thinking, but you never know in football.”

A Brazilian fan from Auckland Park in Johannesburg, Thiago, was confident that his team would get maximum points from the group with a victory against Italy. “Italy is very good, but I think Brazil is better. I am not a big fan of Dunga, he is a bit conservation, as he was when he was a player, but we have the team to win the competition, and Kaka is on form for us.”

A group of singing fans made their way towards the stadium with flags and shirts proving that their allegiance lies with Brazil. “The Brazilians are simply the best, and the Italians will not be able to stop them. The score will be heavily in favour of Brazil, 4-0 or 5-0.”

The next people to pass our way did not feel as confident of a Brazilian victory however, believing that Brazil would be beaten by the world champions. “Italy have what it takes. They have not woken up yet, but they always come to the party a little late. 2-0 to Italy is enough for us, but a Rossi hat-trick would not be bad.”
